Good Morning Boys and Girls. Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. The weather is great outside and its a great time to put on your running shoes and get some fresh air. After all of that fun and play outside, Ms. Galea has posted some websites that you can go to just for fun.
WEBSITE ONE : Nick Junior This website was created by Nickelodeon and has fun games that you can play with some of your favourite characters like Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues and Yogabba Gabba! Hope you enjoy!

WEBSITE TWO:
Treehouse One of your favoruite shows now has a website. This site is filled with great games, reading material, drawing boards and even online shows that you can watch on your computer. Hope you enjoy.

WEBSITE THREE is one of my personal favourites. I recently heard about this little boy named Zack who was diagnosed with Autism and loved to play on the computer. His dad then made a website in ZACKS name that everyone could play on. Hope you enjoy this one!

Place Value and Addition Recap

Hello Boys and Girls! Today in class we learned about place values. Since everyone did not get a chance to copy down the example I put up on the board, I have provided you with it below:
Place Values Example
7 8 4
__Ones' place (There are 4 ones)
____Tens' place (Plus there are 8 tens)
______Hundreds' place (Plus there are 7 hundreds)

Remeber Also that when you are writing down your answers from your handout there are THREE ways to write out the answer.
1) Using the numbers
2) Using words
3) Drawing base ten blocks.

If you follow these steps and remeber to study, you should all do a great job on your test this Friday.
As extra help, go to :
Place Value Exercise. This website has a wide variety of examples that you can follow and learn from!

Math Review

Hello Boys and Girls, I know that everyone was having some difficulty with counting dollar values up to $1.oo. So for some reference lets review:
1 penny is equal to 1
1 nickel is equal to 5
1 dime is equal to 10
1 quarter is equal to 25
1 looney is equal to 1.oo
Here is some money counting worksheets that you can practice at home with your family.
Money Worksheet One
Money Worksheet Two
Give them a try and lets see how you do tomorrow in class.
Good luck;)

Hello Parents and Family!

Hello and Welcome all Parents and Family Members!
This year is going to be an especially important year for all the boys and girls in Ms. Galea's class. I am so pleased to have this opportunity to welcome any comments and concerns regarding students and curriculum. Here are some helpful links that I thought you would appreciate to see regarding grade two and grade two curriculum.

The first document is the Ontario curriculum Guidelines. This link provides overall expectations as well as some specific expectations that are relevant to our grade two students. Feel free to ask me any questions relating to this document.
Ontario Curriculum Guidelines Here, you can view all subject areas and corresponding expectations.

The second document link is a resource link with fun games, learning models, activities and much more. Learning Models - this link is not only educational but fun for both children and family members to enjoy:)

This link is one of the most helpful links out there. It contains resources for every subject area as well as activities that can help students who are having difficulty with subject content or who would prefer to just go on and do some additional work. Enjoy:)

Ontario Science Center- Agenda and Link:)

Hello Boys and Girls, I hope you are all as excited as I am about going to the Science Center on Friday:) Just an overview of what we will be doing that day in case any of you have forgotten.

We will arrive there at 10a.m. Our first workshop will be on Energy where we will learn all about the sun, gravity, heat and moving water. After that, we will head down to the workshop on Living things and the Environment where we will watch the Deep Sea imax movie. Than we will proceed to have lunch.

After lunch, we will go to Material Matters where we will explore different properties and characteristics of materials. Watch liquids flow turn into solids. Dicover push and pull magnets. Trace an object through the manufacturing process as we uncover the fascinating stuff that makes up our world. And lastly, we will go to the last workshop called Science Investigators where will all be given the opporutnity to investigate like real scienctist.
